Bidding Methods
We offer different methods of bidding at Opus Auctions (UK) Ltd
In person at our saleroom
• Leaving Absentee Bids via our website
• Telephone Bidding on the day of the auction
• Live Online Bidding
In Person
There is nothing quite as exciting as bidding in person at a live auction.
.If you choose to bid in person, you will need to provide either your driving license or passport so that we can give you a paddle number. Once the auction has started, take a seat and the auctioneer will announce the bidding increments for each lot.
If you wish to bid on an item, please raise your hand or paddle (number given to you at the start of the auction). If there is no one else bidding against you, the auctioneer will bring down the gavel on your winning bid. If you are unable to attend in auction, there are three alternative methods of bidding.
Leaving Absentee Bids via our website
You can leave an absentee bid, up to 30 minutes before the sale start time, requesting Opus to bid on your behalf up to the maximum amount you have stated. You can place an absentee bid by either emailing/telephoning the saleroom, or via the-saleroom.com
Telephone Bidding on the day of the auction
We can also arrange for you to bid by telephone, enabling you to talk directly to a member of our staff in the sale room itself. Your operator will relay the auctioneer’s bids back to you and, on your instruction, bid on your behalf. Please call 01344 624276 to arrange a telephone bid. You must arrange this by 4pm the day before the auction.
